Jeannie Ho uses photographic mediums to explore associations between our environments and state of mind, our inherent interior journey, mental liminal spaces, and unconscious memory and thought. Her experiences of physical and psychological displacement inform her work in profound ways; her iconography of quotidian spaces and defamiliarized terrains are expressions of inherent psychological complexities in our everyday landscapes.
Jeannie was based in New York City for almost 20 years before returning to Singapore.
She studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and was part of the Mentor Program, working with Life Magazine's photo editor Barbara Baker Burrows. After graduation, she worked in the business of commercial photography studios, working with clients like Clinique, Kiehl's, W Magazine & Conde Nast Traveler.
As a photographic artist, Jeannie has shown in the Art Directors' Club and Transient Gallery in New York City. She has also received an ICON de Martell Cordon Bleu Discernment award, had work in The Sovereign Art Foundation, participated in the Dali International Photo Festival in Yunnan, China, Photo Speak in Busan, Korea, and has shown her work in various galleries and art spaces in Singapore. She has been included in exhibitions at The Esplanade, 2902 Gallery, Artspace@Helutrans, The National Gallery NGS Light Up Gallery, and The National Museum Stamford Gallery.
Jeannie Ho is currently teaching part-time at the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
